What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding is a popular cosmetic dental treatment with patients from Marylebone, Fitzrovia, Mayfair and throughout London.

Composite bonding changes the appearance of your teeth and can be used to disguise or repair dental flaws. Sometimes known as dental bonding or teeth bonding, composite bonding is frequently chosen because it is inexpensive, painless and offers fast results.

Made from a special dental resin, composite bonding is gently applied to your teeth and then moulded into shape. It is a good way to disguise problems such as:
  • Cracked or chipped teeth
  • Uneven surfaces or uneven teeth
  • Worn down teeth
  • Dis-coloured or stained teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Small teeth

How does dental bonding work at Harley Street?

At your initial consultation in Harley Street, we will examine your teeth and check on your dental health. We will discuss what you want to change about your teeth and check that composite bonding is the best treatment for you.

At your next appointment, a dental resin will be carefully selected to closely match the colour of your teeth.

We will then prepare your tooth by gently etching at the surface. A special liquid is applied to your tooth and this adheres the resin to the tooth surface.

Next, the dental resin will be pressed on to your tooth and moulded into shape until we have reached the final desired effect. Once this is complete, a laser is placed over the top of your teeth to seal the composite bonding to your teeth.

The treatment is completed with a polish to ensure that the surface of your teeth are smooth.

The entire process for composite bonding is painless and takes approximately an hour to treat one tooth. You may need to allow more time or subsequent appointments to treat more teeth. We can discuss this with you at your initial consultation.

I HAVE RECOMMENDED 31 HARLEY STREET TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND CLIENTS

Rod McNeil and his team truly offer the best dental care in London. I tried several other practices previously with mixed results. When you try this team however, I defy you to ever think about going elsewhere. Their hygienists are sensational (care, accuracy, equipment, expertise). All of this on the Harley Street, at very reasonable rates. Great personalities also. Keep up the Sterling work!

ROD IS QUITE CONCEIVABLY THE BEST DENTIST IN LONDON.

I have been under his care for some 20 years now and it would be difficult to imagine how I could have been being looked after better. He is the embodiment of professionalism and I would recommend him to anyone without a moment's hesitation.

I COULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE AND THEIR STAFF HIGHLY ENOUGH!

I’ve been to this practice twice for hygiene appointments with Kelsey, she was great and did a thorough job. I was nervous in the chair but she did amazing to keep me calm and made sure I was comfortable. The practice’s Covid procedures also made me feel very safe.

Frequently asked questions about Composite Bonding

How long does composite bonding last?
On average, composite bonding should last between 5 and 10 years. You can increase the longevity of composite bonding with good oral hygiene and care.
Can I whiten the composite bonding on my teeth?
No. Teeth whitening will not work on composite material. If you wish to get your teeth whitened, it is best if you have this done first and then match the composite material for the dental bonding to the new shade of your teeth.
Can I eat and drink as usual after composite bonding?
The resin will be cured during the composite bonding process so you will not have to wait to eat or drink. You will be advised during your treatment if you should avoid certain strong coloured foods and drink immediately after your treatment.
